Janu Basti has two terms 'janu' stands for knee and 'basti' stands for meant to hold

The knee joint is known as Janu Sandhi in Sanskrit .Hence the Basti Procedure done for the treatment of knee joints pains is known as Janu Basti .In this the knee is washed with warm medicated oil or freshly prepared herbal decoction. it can be practiced over both the knee joints or on one of the knee joints depending upon the condition of the client. In Ayurveda knee joints are  considered as sandhi Marma  (joint type of vital areas) . Janu Basti is specialized knee massage or therapy which rejuvenate the janu marma.
